In Matt Leacock’s 2009 Golden Geek Best Family Game Winner, all of humanity is in danger! Four deadly diseases are wreaking havoc on mankind and you and your team of disease-fighting experts must cure them before they spread too much and become uncontrollable. In Pandemic, several virulent diseases have broken out simultaneously all over the world! The players are disease-fighting specialists whose mission is to treat disease hot spots while researching cures for each of four plagues before they get out of hand. Taking a unique role within the team, players must plan their strategy to mesh with their specialists’ strengths in order to conquer the diseases. If one or more diseases spreads beyond recovery or if too much time elapses, the players all lose. If they cure the four diseases, they all win! From its debut in 2008, Pandemic set the standard for cooperative games, and has won almost every award available in the board game world. After its release, cooperative gaming grew substantially, and excellent games inspired by its release have appeared. The game is excellent for solo play, 2 players and for groups up to 4 (more with some expansions). 2-4 players. 45 minutes. Ages 8+
