MahJong is a traditional Chinese game using thick tiles, usually played by four players with game play similarities to rummy. Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy and calculation and involves a certain degree of chance. It is a popular gambling game, but wagering real stakes is by no means necessary to have fun playing. Originating in China in the mid-19th century, and is also called Mahjong, Ma Jiang, Ma Jong, Mah Cheuck, Mah Jong, Mah Jongg, Mah-Jongg, Mah-Lowe, Mahjongg, Majiang, Pung-Chow. Sets often include counters (to keep score), dice (to decide how to deal) and a marker to show who is dealer and which round is being played. A set of mahjong tiles will usually differ from place to place. It usually has at least 136 tiles (most commonly 144), although sets originating from America or Japan will have more. Mahjong tiles are split into these categories: suits, honor, and flowers. The tiles consist of three suits numbering 1-9 (Circles (or Dots), Characters, and Bamboo), three different dragons (Red, Green, and White), and the four winds (east, south, west, and north). There are four copies of each tile. There are often 2 sets of bonus tiles, 4 flowers and 4 seasons. Pushers sold separately!
