Description
In 1995, Klaus Teuber’s winner of Spiel des Jahres debuted and has since been one of the most popular family and strategy games across the world. In Catan (formerly The Settlers of Catan), players try to be the dominant force on the island of Catan by building settlements, cities, and roads. On each turn dice are rolled to determine what resources the island produces. Players collect these resources (cards), wood, grain, brick, sheep, or ore to build up their civilizations to get to 10 victory points and win the game. However, this game requires more than luck with dice; strong negotiation and alliance-building skills make this game an excellent social and family game, as players must make deals with each other to get the desired resources for their goals. 3-4 players. 60-120 minutes. Ages 10+
